Event Details

IMPORTANT NOTE: DemoCamp17 is sold out! We know there are more people who would like to come and we have asked everyone with a General ticket who will not be attending to release it back into the pool. Please keep checking back here, or in the TorCamp Google Group.

DemoCamp is a variation of the un-conference style of event, started by the TorCamp group as an excuse to have more regular meetings where community members share what they've been working on, demo their products, meet others (and share a drink or 3).

Though conceived in Toronto, this style of get-together would work well anywhere. Why not start one in your city?

Ticket Types

Keeping DemoCamp free is an important part of what makes the event so accessible and we hope to be able to do so for as long as possible. As the turnout has increased and the venues have grown, the cost of mounting the event has also increased. If you feel that DemoCamp brings you $5 or $10 worth of knowledge, fun, experience, or community, skip that Starbucks run and buy one of the Community Supporter or Community All Star tickets. Thanks!

Schedule

  • 5:00: Doors open
  • 6:00 - 7:00pm: Demos
  • 7:30 - 8:00pm: Ignite Presentatinos
  • 9:00: Duke of Westminster

Got something to demo? Thinking about how to Ignite the crowd?

The rules are pretty simple. Demos are 5 minutes. There is generally no PowerPoint/Keynote/etc. for Demos (if you need slides, please talk to the stewards). Ignite presentations are 5 minutes. They are 20 slides x 15 seconds/slide and the presenter does not have control over the slide advancement. All Ignite decks must be submitted to the stewards before the event in PowerPoint format.

Demos are not a product sales pitch. Read Value to the Audience; Tips for Presenting at DemoCamp and What Makes a Great Demo. We are looking for Toronto technology companies to celebrate and inspire the community.

If you had five minutes to ignite Toronto, what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Launch a web site? Teach a hack? Talk about recent learnings, sucesses, failures? Fill out the form below to submit your talk. We are looking for talks that will inspire and teach not recruiting or product pitches.

These events are community driven, you know you want to participate.

Please note: Demo and Ignite submissions are now closed. See you at DemoCamp!

Sponsorship

The event space is being sponsored by the Toronto Board of Trade. The space costs are regularly $2,200/event, however, we've arranged a discount. Like all TorCamp events, we will need community sponsorship. Sponsorship is limited to $200/sponsor. Interested in becoming a sponsor? Contact Jay Goldman (jgoldman at radiant core dot com).
